British Columbia is a global leader in sustainable forest management. It is unique among the world’s leading forest producers because 95 per cent of its land base is publicly owned, and forest activities on public land must follow strict forest management laws. Of the province’s total land base, 13.8 per cent is fully protected. A fraction of one per cent of British Columbia’s forests is logged each year.
